Meet The Choreography Festival Online adjudicators

LARA WILSON is a choreographer and creative focused on the intersections of movement, visual design, and storytelling. A 2009 graduate of the Ailey/Fordham B.F.A. program in New York City, Lara moved to Orange County in 2012, where she soon joined forces with other dancers and dance makers, including co-founder Delyer Anderson, to produce The Assembly’s inaugural show. Immediately afterwards, the group solidified into a company. On the East Coast, Lara showed her work at Jacob’s Pillow, at Symphony Space, during APAP, and in two full evenings at the Joan Weill Center for Dance and Brooklyn’s Galapagos Art Space, respectively. Out West, her dances have appeared at Highways Performance Space, the O.C. Great Park, NAVEL LA, and on screen nationally and internationally, including at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival and in Jerusalem during “From Jaffa to Agripas.” In addition to directing The Assembly, Lara owns and co-operates an art space in the high desert called Compound YV and is the creative director of the dance journal, DIYdancer. As a performer, Lara has been called “expert” (OC Weekly) and “amazing” (SeeDance.com). She was an artist-in-residence at Yale University, Mana Contemporary, and is currently in residence at The Muckenthaler Cultural Center in 2019. Pia Vinson was born and raised in France where she started her training in ballet, tap and contemporary dance. After a few years as a dancer and mime at the Opera National de Montpellier, she moved to New York City in 2011 to enroll in the Professional Training Program at the Martha Graham School. It was there that she started creating her own repertory which has since been showcased in several Festivals around the world. Her work has shared the stage with members of Joffrey Ballet, Ballet Jazz Montréal and the Martha Graham Company. In 2016, Pia relocated to Los Angeles and has immersed herself in both experimental and commercial dance scenes. Since arriving in LA,  she has performed for various artists such as Dua Lipa, Vance Joy, Oneohtrix Point Never, Radhouane El Meddeb,
 Xu Zhen, Madeline Hollander. She has also choreographed for Elohim, Vérité, Luna Shadows, Tokimonsta, ESPN & many other performances.
